Café Tamon

This café sits just in front of Utasu Shrine, and spot known for its association with the first lord of the Kaga Domain, Toshiee Maeda. Here you’ll find a menu that’s bent on eating local, serving up sweets like pancakes made with local Ishikawa Prefecture ingredients and rice flours.

The Tamon Pancakes (940 yen) is the shops headliner item, made with their own specially made rice flour made with Ishikawa Prefecture Koshi-hikari brand rice. The rice flour adds a deliciously chewy bite and round, mellow aroma you’re bound to love. You can even add honey butter special selected maple syrup or Kanazawa Higashiyama Honey (both 100 yen). The menu is filled with plenty of items to choose, including the special seasonal pancake topped with loads of seasonal fruits or pancakes made with famous local ingredients like gold leaf or Kaga Bocha tea.

During the hours of 11:00am and 2:00pm you’ll find a lunch time exclusive, the Noto Roast Pork Lunch (1,850 yen) featuring a homemade sauce and delicious roasted pork from the Noto peninsula. There are days when this special treat sells out so make sure to make it to the restaurant early for a taste.
