Okaki Main Store
A restaurant serving Omi beef raised on its own ranch through a variety of cooking methods.
"Okaki Main Store" is an Omi beef restaurant in Ryuo Town, Shiga Prefecture. Its first owner, Shoshichi, founded the business as a cattle and horse trader in 1839. The family business has been passed down through generations, and the main store opened in 1981, boasting a history of more than 40 years.
Its directly operated ranch raises Approx. 500 head of cattle. Surrounded by Mount Ryuo and raised with water from the Hino River flowing through Shiga Prefecture, the Omi beef is known for its high marbling and oleic acid content, which allows the fat to melt at a low temperature for a melt-in-your-mouth texture. At the main store, Omi beef is served in a wide range of styles, including simmered, grilled, and lightly seared preparations. The menu is extensive, with set meals, set menus, sushi, hitsumabushi, and yakiniku. Especially popular are the "Yakiniku Set Meal," made with rib meat stir-fried with vegetables in a special sauce, and "Jimi," a yakiniku set featuring three kinds of meat served in a wooden box. In the evening, guests can enjoy rare cuts such as marushin and hiuchi, as well as assorted platters cooked on a smokeless roaster, along with cuts like chateaubriand, loin, and tenderloin.
The interior features a spacious tatami room with sunken kotatsu seating, allowing guests to dine at a relaxed pace. The attached meat shop also sells fresh cuts of meat.
