Roadside Station Asahikawa (Michi-no-Eki Asahikawa)

Located alongside National Route 237, which runs from Asahikawa through Furano and on to the Hidaka region, this station serves as a hub for Asahikawa's industry, gourmet food, and tourism. It's just a 15-minute walk from JR Asahikawa Station, ensuring easy access from the heart of Asahikawa.

Roadside Station Asahikawa is a very convenient rest stop during a trip. Besides taking a short break and browsing around, you can also find plenty of Hokkaido specialties and souvenirs.

During this visit, I bought a bottle of lavender essential oil. Its light lavender scent is very soothing, and it became a small keepsake to bring home from this Hokkaido trip. When I saw a scented item I liked, I couldn't resist buying it!

Pontocho

Pontocho Street runs north to south sandwiched by Kamo River and Takase River, which was originally an island in Kamo River. In the early Edo Period, Takase River was opened and connected to Fushimi, and it began to prosper as a logistics hub. In the late Edo period, it became a downtown. By the early Meiji Period when Kamogawa Dance was performed to promote Pontocho, it was established as a red-light district.

Pontocho (Pontocho Alley) is a very distinctive alley in Kyoto. The street isn't very wide, but it is lined with many restaurants, izakayas, and small shops. Walking along the stone-paved street and looking at the Kyoto-style machiya townhouses gives it a charming old-fashioned feel.

Pontocho becomes even more atmospheric after dusk, when the shops' lanterns begin to light up. The narrow alleyways paired with traditional Japanese architecture create a very captivating atmosphere.

While visiting Takayama, I made a special morning trip to the Miyagawa Morning Market. Walking along the Miyagawa River, you can see stall after stall selling local fruits and vegetables, pickles, and specialty snacks, creating a strong sense of everyday local life.

Meiji Macadamia Chocolate

This candy wraps whole macadamia nuts, so precious that they are called “the king of nuts”, in chocolate of just the right sweetness.

Meiji Macadamia Chocolate has crunchy whole macadamia nuts inside the chocolate, giving it a nicely layered texture.

When you bite into it, you first taste the sweet, fragrant chocolate, followed by the macadamia nut, which is rich and crunchy. The flavors of the chocolate and nuts go together just right!

RyukyuMura is a theme park that recreates an old Ryukyu village, chock full of authentic experiences including folk songs and performing arts.

RyukyuMura is an attraction where you can experience Okinawa's traditional culture and atmosphere. The park has many red-tiled houses, stone walls, and traditional buildings with distinctive Ryukyu features. Walking through it feels like traveling back to Okinawa in the past.

As you stroll through the park, you can watch traditional Ryukyu performing arts and try various Okinawan cultural experiences. Combined with the strong tropical atmosphere, it feels very different from typical tourist attractions.

Akashi Kaikyo Bridge

The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge connects Honshu and Awaji Island. It is known as the world's longest suspension bridge, with a total length of 3,911 meters and a distance of 1,991 meters between the two main towers. Together with the Onaruto Bridge, it connects the Kansai area to Shikoku, and is a popular tourist route.

When I arrived at the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, I was immediately drawn to the spectacular bridge before me. The massive towers rise into the clouds, and the long bridge stretches across the Akashi Strait, connecting Honshu and Awaji Island. Even from a distance, you can feel its imposing presence.

They remind me a lot of Taiwan's Crispy Flute Rolls. The outside is light and crispy, and when you bite into one, you get the sweetness of the chocolate. They make you want to keep eating.

Red Perilla (YukariⓇ) Rice Seasoning

Shiso rice seasing made of high quality red shiso leaf. To make delicious shiso rice just add 1 to 2g of the rice seasoning to one bowl (approx. 150g) of rice. This seasoning has been popular ever since it was first released in 1970, it is a popular choice for school lunches. Of course the seasoning can be used in other dishes too, such as tempura.

After visiting Osaka Castle, I took a walk around the area and unexpectedly came across the Aqua-Liner boarding area.
Unfortunately, it seemed to be closed that day, so I could only look at the boarding area and the surrounding scenery from the shore and wasn't able to actually ride it. I hope that the next time I visit Osaka, I can set aside enough time to take the Aqua-Liner and enjoy views of Osaka Castle and the city from a different perspective.

Passing by The Park Front Hotel at Universal Studios Japan, my immediate impression was just how close it is to the park. The overall surroundings looked clean and bright, and from some spots you can even see directly into the park, which made me look forward to what it would be like to stay there even more.

A friend had recommended staying in this area before, and after passing by in person this time, I feel even more strongly that I should stay at least one night the next time I visit Universal Studios Japan. You can easily get to the park in the morning, and even if you stay until late at night, you can quickly return to the hotel to rest without spending extra time traveling back and forth.

For anyone who wants to enjoy Universal Studios Japan at a more relaxed pace, staying next to the park really is much more convenient. It also became a small wish from this trip that I'd really like to make come true next time.
