A popular resort area less than 30 minutes by car from central Fukuoka City.
With both sea and mountain scenery, driving along the coastline is a classic way to explore the area. In summer, the blue sea and sky create an open, refreshing landscape. You can spend a relaxed time visiting cafés and shops along the route.
At Sakurai Futamigaura, a torii gate stands in the sea alongside the Meoto Iwa “wedded rocks,” and the scenery becomes especially striking at sunset. There are also many direct sales markets, making it a great place to discover fresh seafood and mountain produce.

A resort island reached by a 10-minute boat ride. Located on Nokonoshima Island in Hakata Bay, it is easy to access, about 10 minutes by boat from the Meinohama Ferry Terminal.
Inside the park, flower fields spread out with the seasons. In summer, sunflowers and ocean views come together to create open, scenic views.
There are also restaurants and shops, where you can try island flavors such as Noko Udon. With activities set in nature as well, it’s a place to spend a leisurely time.

Located on the Hakata Bay waterfront, near Fukuoka Tower and PayPay Dome, this park features about 1.5 km of white sandy beach.

The commercial complex Marizon has restaurants and shops, making it easy to stop by while taking in the view. Another feature is the different seaside atmosphere you can experience by day and by night.

A national park in Higashi Ward, Fukuoka City. Surrounded by the sea, the vast grounds cover about 350 hectares and are rich in nature, with seasonal flowers blooming throughout the year. Open spaces surrounded by the sea and greenery make it a pleasant place for cycling and strolling.
Sunshine Pool, with waterslides and pools for young children, is a popular summer leisure spot. The grounds also include the aquarium Marine World Uminonakamichi.

A scenic spot designated by Fukuoka Prefecture, located halfway up Mt. Hagane at an elevation of about 900 m. The falls have a drop of about 24 m, and as the name suggests, the water flows beautifully like white threads. In summer, the spray feels refreshing, making it a well-loved nature spot for cooling off.
Hydrangeas reach their peak from mid-June to early July, and seasonal activities such as nagashi somen noodles and yamame trout fishing are also popular. The surrounding nature trails are another highlight, letting you walk while hearing the murmur of the river and birdsong.

About 30 minutes by car from central Fukuoka City, this outdoor destination is set in an area of rich nature that feels far removed from the nearby city.
The large grounds include walking paths and observation decks where you can feel the changing seasons, a nature observation center for learning about wild birds and plants, and a farm where visitors can interact with animals. Adults and children alike can spend time here in their own way.
With plenty of shade, the park is comfortable for strolling and enjoying views from the observation deck, and outdoor experiences such as BBQ and camping are also available.

A sacred mountain spanning the border between Fukuoka and Oita prefectures, it has long flourished as a training ground for Shugendo mountain asceticism. Made up of three peaks—Nakadake, Kitadake, and Minamidake—the mountain still retains many historic sites, including caves once used for training.
With several climbing routes ranging from beginner to advanced, it is well suited for hiking and trekking. Seasonal scenery is also a highlight, and in summer you can spend refreshing time walking mountain paths surrounded by trees.

Located in central Fukuoka City, this waterside park is centered on a large pond and surrounded by abundant nature. It is a favorite place for residents to relax.
A path of about 2 km circles the pond, making it popular not only for walks but also for running and cycling.

An observation spot at an elevation of 622 m, overlooking the city of Kitakyushu. The observation deck at the summit can be reached by transferring between a cable car and a slope car.
The cable car runs 1,100 m from the Sanroku Station to the Sanjo Station, with an elevation difference of 440 m, making it one of the longest in western Japan. The changing views from the windows are part of the experience on the way to the summit.

A nature park counted among Japan’s three major karst landscapes. The karst plateau stretches across elevations of 350 to 600 m, about 6 km north to south and 2 km east to west. Scattered limestone formations resembling flocks of sheep create a distinctive landscape.

With a history of more than 370 years, this fireworks festival began with a fireworks offering celebrating the completion of Suitengu Shrine in 1650. It is one of the largest fireworks displays in western Japan, with about 15,000 fireworks vividly coloring the surface of the Kurume River and the night sky.
Fireworks are launched from two locations, allowing spectators at different venues to enjoy them from different angles. Along with fireworks reflected on the river, this Kurume summer tradition offers powerful displays.

A traditional taiko drumming art with more than 400 years of history, dedicated during the annual festival of Yasaka Shrine, which was founded to protect Kokura Castle. It is known as a traditional event that represents summer in Kokura.
People in happi coats and yukata walk through the streets beating drums while praying for abundant harvests and good health. The festival is known for its rare drumming styles: striking both sides of the drum, striking the side, and playing while walking.
For three days, the sound of drums echoes throughout the city, especially around Kokura Castle, filling the area with energy.

One of Fukuoka’s representative summer fireworks festivals. Fireworks are launched from barges floating on the Onga River, creating scenery that lights up the night sky and the water.
