Japanese Cuisine Kaijuso

Located inside ART HOTEL Morioka, this Japanese restaurant offers dining in a distinctly Japanese setting. The restaurant is named Kaijuso because it stands on the former site of Kaijuso, the villa of former Prime Minister Takashi Hara.

The dishes feature carefully selected seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. In the evening, the restaurant serves kaiseki-style courses that balance fish and meat dishes, allowing diners to appreciate the character of each season through both presentation and flavor. Lunch options include classic grilled fish and tempura set meals, as well as the most popular choice, a monthly set meal. The food also pairs exceptionally well with the extensive selection of local sake from Iwate. Another popular specialty is unaju, made with carefully selected domestic eel grilled until tender and glazed with a secret sauce passed down since the restaurant was established.

Inspired by a traditional Japanese garden, the interior features ornamental rocks and stepping stones, along with a variety of seating options, including tatami rooms, counter seats, and sunken-floor seating. Fully private and semi-private rooms are also available for meetings, anniversaries, and a variety of other occasions.
