Kiyoken’s Shiumai with a Drink: A Taste of Yokohama Tradition.

Last update :
Supervised by :  First Avenue Tokyo Station

SHUMAI Bar is a dining concept pairing shiumai (steamed dumplings) with drinks, created by Kiyoken, the long-established company founded in 1908. At Yokohama Kiyoken (SHUMAI Bar) Tokyo Station on Nippon Gourmet Road, you can dine in or take your food away. Its shiumai owe their flavor to a combination of pork and dried scallops.

The signature dish is the Shiumai Assortment (Six Varieties). The platter lets you compare freshly steamed varieties, from the classic Old-fashioned Shiumai to Shrimp Shiumai, Crab Shiumai, and more. In keeping with the SHUMAI Bar concept, pairing shiumai with an alcoholic drink offers better value. Another popular choice is Yokohama Shiumai Mabo Don, a spicy mapo-style rice bowl that also includes shiumai. Sichuan pepper gives it its distinctive heat and numbing tingle. The simmered bamboo shoots popular in Shiumai Bento, said to be Japan’s best-selling ekiben (boxed meal sold at train stations), are also available on their own as a snack to accompany drinks.

Takeaway is also available, including souvenir shiumai that can be stored for five months and purchased on the spot to bring home. Enjoy piping-hot shiumai and drinks in the restaurant, then choose a gift to take with you.
